“At St. Julien near Bonneville. — On High Ground” (aka “A St. Julien Près Bonneville. [Jura]”), 1838”, plate three from a series of seven landscapes executed in 1838, “Sites Pittoresques”.

Etching on fine laid paper backed with a support sheet.

Size: (sheet) 33.4 x 24.2 cm; (plate) 29.2 x 20.6 cm; (image borderline) 26.3 x 18.9 cm.

Inscribed in plate below the image borderline: “(left) “EBléry del. & scult.”; (centre) “A St. Julien Près Bonneville. (Jura).”; (right) “1838.”

The British Museum offers the following description of this print: “Landscape with three washerwomen near a stream in the centre foreground; a wooden bridge and a water-mill in the centre background. 1838” (https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1856-0712-314 [inv. 1856,0712.314]).

Condition: a strong and well-printed impression in an excellent condition with no tears, holes, folds or stains and laid onto a support of archival (millennium quality) washi paper providing wide margins.

I am selling this very beautiful etching, designed and executed by a seminal figure of the 19th century etching revival movement and, interestingly, taught the great Charles Méryon, for AU $277 in total (currently US $110.96/ EUR 106.44/ GBP 89.86 at the time of posting this listing) including Express Mail (EMS) postage and handling to anywhere in the world, but not (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries. Note that payment is in Australian dollars (AU $277) as this is my currency.
