Julien has translated Louis-Henri De Rudder's design into this magnificent lithograph intended as a drawing subject for advanced students to copy. As an insight into the subject of this print, I suspect that the portrayed woman relates to De Rudder's travels in India when he visited there in the early 1840s and worked with the Russian artist, Prince Aleksei Dmitrievich Saltykov (1806–59), ultimately producing 40 lithographs in 1842.
