Alfred-Alexandre Delauney (1830–1895)
“Birds and a Cascade Waterfall”
(descriptive title only), 1890 (as dated on plate), pencil signed proof
impression (scratch inscribed before formal lettering for publication?) with remarque
image of a small bird below the image borderline at right.
Etching with remarque, pencil signed, trimmed
along the image borderline on the sides and backed with a support sheet.
Size: (trimmed sheet) 59 x 34.4 cm;
(image borderline) 56 x 34.4 cm.
Inscribed on plate below the image
borderline: (left) “Delauney 90”.
Inscribed in pencil below the image
borderline: (right) “Delauney”.
Condition: richly inked and well-printed,
pencil signed impression trimmed along the image borderline at the sides and
within the plate mark at the top and bottom edges and laid upon a conservator’s
support sheet. There are pale dots stains in the margin below the image
borderline.
I am selling this large, rare and sparklingly luminous etching revealing
the artist’s fascination with the effects of strong light and his romantic
leaning towards natural scenery, for [deleted] including
postage and handling to anywhere in the world (but not, of course, any import
duties/taxes imposed by some countries).
