Harold Crossley (1900–1993)
“Study of Trees on a Rainy Day—Glasgow”, c.1920, pencil signed and numbered proof impression.
See another etching by this lesser known, but remarkably strong 20th century British artist, born in Thornton (Yorkshire), at Arcadja Auctions:
Soft-ground etching with plate tone printed in sepia coloured ink on fine buff China paper backed with a support sheet and signed in pencil with the artist’s monogram.
Size: (sheet) 24 x 19.4 cm; (plate) 20.9 x 17.9 cm; (image borderline) 16.9 x 16.8 cm.
Inscribed in pencil below the image borderline: (left) the artist’s mongram “HC”; (right) “X” (possibly signifying that this is the tenth impression?).
Lifetime proof-state impression.
Condition: richly inked impression with small margins on extremely fine (tissue thin) paper laid onto a support sheet of archival (millennium quality) washi paper. The sheet has age toning on the left edge and there are a few minor marks, otherwise the sheet is in excellent condition (i.e. there are no tears, holes, creases, losses, abrasions, significant stains or foxing).
I am selling this small but boldly conceived etching, for the total cost of AU$240 (currently US$146.97/EUR131.44/GBP119.88 at the time of this listing) including postage and handling to anywhere in the world (but not, of course, any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries).
If you are interested in purchasing strikingly strong etching, please contact me (oz_jim@printsandprinciples.com) and I will send you a PayPal invoice to make the payment easy.
