The British Museum offers the following
description of this print:
“The Creation; God blessing the universe
(consisting of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden framed by a circular
firmament with the Sun, Moon and Stars), four winds in the corners”
Condition: strong early impression no sign of wear
to the printing plate, trimmed with a narrow margin around the image borderline
on the sides and lower edge and three lines of letterpress text above the
borderline. The sheet is in excellent condition (i.e. there are no tears,
holes, folds, abrasions, stains or foxing) with letterpress text verso and laid
upon an archival support sheet of millennium quality washi paper.
I am selling this remarkable woodcut showing an
early representation of the creation of the universe with God in heaven
above the earth, four winds blowing from the corners and Adam and Eve in
paradise surrounded by sun, moon, clouds and stars, for
AU$347 (currently US$245.78/EUR221.52/GBP192.86 at the time of this listing)
including postage and handling to anywhere in the world (but not, of course,
any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries).
