Jean Lepautre (aka Jean Le Pautre; Jean Le Potre; Jean Lepotre) (1618–1682)

Etching on laid paper with small margins.

Size: (sheet) 26.2 x 16.8 cm; (plate) 22 x 15 cm.

Numbered on plate at lower right corner: “I”.

Inscribed on plate within the escutcheon on the right panel: “montans/ de trophées darmes/ a l'antique designer/ et grauer par Iean/ le Pautre./ Ce vend a Paris/ chez P. Mariette/ rue St. Jacques a l'esperance/ auec priuite/ du Roy/ 1659”.

Size: (sheet) 26.2 x 17 cm; (plate) 22.2 x 15 cm.

Numbered on plate at lower right corner: “5”.

Inscribed on plate between the two panels: “A Paris chez P. Mariette rue St. Jacques a l’esperance”.

Condition: strong impressions, richly inked and well-printed with small margins in excellent condition (i.e. there are no tears, holes, folds, significant stains or foxing.

I am selling this pair of Baroque etchings featuring four ornamental panels showing ancient gods—from left: Spes/Hope; Hercules; Neptune; a Water God—for the total cost of AU$264 for the pair (currently US$205.98/EUR169.25/GBP147.86 at the time of this listing) including Express Mail (EMS) postage and handling to anywhere in the world, but not (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries.
