inscribed]), 1586–1629, plate 11 (XI) from a series of twelve plates portraying
the wives of the twelve Caesars, “Famous Roman Women” (aka “Beroemde Romeinse Vrouwen”)

Condition: a well-printed but slightly silvery
impression showing minor wear to the lettered text. The sheet is in an
excellent condition for its considerable age with no tears, holes, folds, abrasions,
significant stains, foxing or signs of handling and there is a small margin of approximately
1 cm around the platemark.
I am selling masterwork of engraving by one of
the major Flemish old master printmakers—note the amazing control exhibited in the
artist’s use parallel lines of varying thickness and curvature to render the Empress’ mantle and tunic—for AU$304 in total (currently US$219.49/EUR192.78/GBP160.99 at the time
of posting this listing) including postage and handling to anywhere in the
world, but not (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries.
