Heinrich Ulrich’s engraving, “Soldier Holding Crest with Inscription”, 1598, after Paul Mair

“Soldier Holding Crest with Inscription”, 1598, title plate to the series, “The Guard of Emperor Rudolph” (aka “Old German Soldiers”; “Suite of Warriors”; “Retinue of Warriors"), published by Heinrich Ulrich in Nuremberg, after Paul Mair (aka Paulus Mayr) (fl. c1610).

Engraving on laid paper, trimmed around the image borderline and backed with a support sheet.

Size: (sheet) 8.3 x 6.2 cm.

Inscribed in plate: (on crest) “Paulus/ Maÿr./ Inuentor,,/ 1598”; (below the image borderline) “Heinrich Vllrich in Norinbergæ Schulp et excudit”.

Condition: a well-printed impression, trimmed around the image borderline with age-toning and restoration to fractures laid onto a support sheet of archival (millennium quality) washi paper.

I am selling this small title-plate engraving that is dated (1598) and inscribed with the engraver and designer’s names, for the total cost of AU$234 (currently US$174.49/EUR159.90/GBP132.82 at the time of listing this print) including postage and handling to anywhere in the world (but not, of course, any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries).
