du XIXe Siècle: Guide de l'Amateur d'Estampes Modernes”, vol. v, Paris,

The British Museum and Fine Arts Museums of San
Francisco offer descriptions of this print: https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1863-0725-263;

Note that the BM advises that this print is after Léon Cogniet, but, as the
publication details show Cogniet as the lithographer and Bertauts as the
printer, I presume the “after” refers to the composition of this lithograph
being after a painting by Cogniet. Note that Beraldi (1886) advises: (transl.) “Léon Cogniet's paintings were engraved or
lithographed by Delaistre, Jazet, Lane, Marin Lavigne, Midy, Leon Noel, etc. —
See also the Galleries of Versailles. Julien lithographed a drawing course by
Léon Cogniet” (p. 28).
Condition: a well-printed (near faultless)
impression with generously wide margins. Beyond thinness where there were
mounting supports and a reinforced tear (verso) the sheet is in an excellent
condition with no holes, folds, abrasions, stains or foxing.
I am selling this exceptionally beautiful
lithograph study showing what I understand is the artist’s wife and daughter, for
the total cost of AU$229 (currently US$159.84/EUR157.37/GBP132.21 at the time
of posting this print) including postage and handling to anywhere in the world,
but no (of course) any import duties/taxes imposed by some countries.
If you are interested in purchasing this sensitively
executed lithograph described in Beraldi’s catalogue (1886) as a “petite
lithographie très intéressante” (p. 27), please contact me
(oz_jim@printsandprinciples.com) and I will send you a PayPal invoice to make
the payment easy.
